On 8th March BVAA’s Valve Working Group met at Castings Technology International at Rotherham. This was Peter Burnett’s (Heap & Partners) first meeting as the new Chair of the working group following the retirement of Geoff Newman. A busy agenda included a presentation by Dr Mike Ashton on the Replicast and Hipping processes, BSI and international standards developments, and an extensive debate on the proposed changes to the castings acceptance procedures in ISO 14313, upon which official UK input is being formulated. A detailed ‘Technical Hot Spot’ by Peter Churm on this topic is featured on page 74.
