Farris Engineering held a two-day event celebrating a state-of-the-art facility with tours and demonstrations. Attendees of the open-house had the opportunity to meet some of the Curtiss-Wright Senior Leadership team, and hear about their growth plans, product strategy and operational enhancements. Jason Irwin, Director of Operations Europe added “This is a major investment, supporting our growth strategy in the region. We thoroughly enjoyed showcasing the new facility to our guests, some of whom travelled from as far as Asia.

The various technology demonstrations were particularly well received. The inSure® Monitoring Device which detects pressure events by measuring valve stem movement and recording critical data. This data can be obtained via mobile app or communicated to a Distributed Control System (DCS) and used to report fugitive emissions more accurately. It can also detect unstable flow in challenging applications to troubleshoot the system and reduce maintenance costs.

Also demonstrated was the Type 2600 direct spring-operated restricted lift valve. The benefits of using a restricted lift valve for operators is that they can more closely match the pressure relief valve’s flow capacity to their system’s required capacity. This can improve valve performance and stability especially in larger orifice size valves. Restricted lift pressure relief valves are a cost-effective solution for situations where PRVs experience inlet pressure losses more than 3% of set pressure or instability due to valve over sizing.

As part of the move the Corby team successfully renewed their ASME, PED, UKCA and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, allowing them to supply fully certified products to a broad national and international customer base.

The new facility has tripled its capacity of direct spring and pilot operated pressure relief valves resulting in shortened lead-times and increased efficiencies. It provides total pressure and flow control management solutions transforming and ensuring plant function and safety, dedicated to support its customers in the European region.

Farris Engineering has been in Corby for 10 years and experienced significant growth. Founded in the United Sates, in 1943, Farris Engineering supplies valves on some of the most challenging applications in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical and Power industries.
