The global energy sector is undergoing a significant transformation, and events like the 6th UK CCUS & Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit are crucial in driving this change. Hosted by Chameleon Events, this summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the latest advancements in carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen technologies - two key pillars in the journey toward net-zero emissions.

This was our second year attending the event, and we can see the progress being made. SAMSON Controls Ltd was proud to exhibit and engage in conversations about the evolving energy landscape and the role that advanced control valve solutions play in supporting the CCUS and hydrogen industries.

The Growing Demand for Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Solutions

As industries strive to reduce their carbon footprint, the need for effective carbon capture and hydrogen infrastructure has never been more critical. The UK government’s commitment to decarbonisation, alongside increasing private sector investment, is accelerating efforts to scale up CCUS projects and hydrogen production. The discussions at the summit highlighted that while significant progress has been made, there is still much work to do to meet climate targets and energy demands.

One of the key takeaways from the event was the momentum shift in the industry. What was once considered a future technology is now being actively deployed across various sectors, including power generation, industrial processes, and transportation. The summit showcased innovative approaches that are making these technologies more viable and cost-effective.

The Role of Control Valves in Decarbonisation

One often overlooked but crucial component in these applications is the control valve. At SAMSON, we have decades of experience in handling hydrogen, carbon, and amine processes, ensuring safe, efficient, and precise flow control in critical applications. Our FOCUS-1 smart meter valve was a key discussion point at the summit, as it offers enhanced data integration, operational efficiency, and cost savings—all vital factors in scaling up decarbonisation projects.

With hydrogen production, transport, and carbon capture infrastructure expanding, reliable and intelligent control solutions will be essential to ensure these processes run safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Looking Ahead

While the journey to net zero is still in progress, the conversations at the 6th UK CCUS & Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit confirmed that the industry is moving in the right direction. SAMSON Controls Ltd remains committed to supporting this transition with innovative solutions that help shape the future of sustainable energy.
