SAMSON’s MainChange Project

Reinforcing European Manufacturing, Supporting the UK

At a time when many valve and instrumentation manufacturers are shifting production overseas, SAMSON Group is charting a different course. With the MainChange project - a new, purpose-built manufacturing campus in Offenbach, Germany—SAMSON has made one of the largest investments in its 118-year history. This bold step strengthens the company’s European foundation and delivers clear benefits for customers in the UK.

Spanning more than 143,000 m², the new facility brings manufacturing, logistics, and R&D under one roof. Designed around lean principles and digitally integrated workflows, the campus reduces internal transport to just one kilometre, boosting efficiency and product traceability. Capabilities such as high-bay warehousing, automated testing, electroplating, electronics production, and final assembly are now managed entirely on site.

Sustainability is at the heart of MainChange. The site will cut total energy demand by over 30% compared to SAMSON’s former Frankfurt location, with more than half of its needs expected to be met by solar power and intelligent storage. Green district heating and advanced insulation will reduce heating demand by nearly 50%, while new processes cut gas usage by almost 90%. Collectively, these measures underline SAMSON’s ambition to achieve carbon-neutral operations in Germany by 2035.

The transition became reality last month, when the first 30 colleagues officially began work at the Offenbach site. CEO Dr. Andreas Widl joined the team to personally fasten the very first positioner, marking the start of a new chapter. As highlighted in SAMSON’s announcement, this milestone represents the largest transformation project in the company’s history and reflects the dedication of employees who are helping to shape the future of industrial production in Germany.

For SAMSON Controls Ltd in the UK, the impact is significant. Customers will benefit from shorter lead times, more predictable supply chains, and improved product quality through greater in-house production control. Enhanced traceability and strong sustainability credentials also help UK clients meet their own environmental and compliance targets - critical in today’s procurement landscape.

By keeping production close to its European markets, SAMSON strengthens resilience at a time of global uncertainty. For UK customers, that means stability in product availability and pricing, as well as quicker access to innovations developed at the Group level.

MainChange is more than a factory - it is a commitment to European engineering excellence and a statement of long-term support for customers across the continent.
