The move was taken to implement a panel interview process to ensure the level of candidates were at the highest standard.
The panel consisted of; Rob Bartlett, Martin Haigh and Dave Godfrey. As with previous years the programme was well subscribed with many companies putting forward candidates.
There were numerous strong candidates and following the interview process the most appropriate candidates were selected for inclusion on to the programme.
A significant change for the latest iteration of the programme is the length over which it takes place.
Previous years have run strategically each month in order to finish for the November AGM, which allowed for the FLP cohort to complete a presentation at this event.
Due to the changes with the course now being endorsed, and with the intention to allow more flexibility into the diaries of the candidates, the programme for FLP4 will be run over an 18 month period.
The finish point will be the 2020 AGM where this 4th cohort will be able to put their skills into practice by delivering a group presentation.
Given that the programme now has ILM endorsement the number of modules has been increased and now includes a 2-day coaching and mentoring element.
In addition, to attain this formal qualification the delegates are required to pass four assessed modules.
The assessment takes the form of one multi-choice paper, two reflective journals and one formal assignment along their leadership journey.
Personal Development consultant Martin Haigh said that the course was progressing nicely and the delegates are responding well to the assessed elements of the programme.
In previous years the final presentation has focused on selling the FLP programme to the AGM in order to provide a platform for ongoing uptake.
It was discussed and agreed at a recent BVAA Board meeting that using this subject matter for the presentation was no longer pertinent as the FLP programme is now established.
To ensure the most suitable topic was selected the Board were tasked to select a subject that was deemed to be the best fit for the latest cohort to present.
The subject selected will allow the FLP4 candidates to use their new-found leadership skillsets in the workplace whilst creating an interesting and thought provoking presentation for the 2020 BVAA AGM.
