TUV SUD: North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop
In its 38th year, the 2020 North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop is the single most important event in the global flow measurement calendar. To reflect ongoing worldwide restrictions, it has been transformed into a virtual event this year.
Hosted by TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory, the theme of this year’s event is “technical innovation” and how this relates to the future of flow measurement.
The technical programme features a line-up of world-class flow measurement expert speakers who will share their field experiences and present the latest research into all aspects of flow measurement. The keynote speaker for the Workshop is Mike Tholen, Director of Sustainability, Oil & Gas UK. With discussion topics widened to include low carbon, energy and downstream businesses, the technical sessions will be chaired by industry experts including Imed Benlizidia, Saudi Aramco; Nigel Holmes, Scottish Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association; and Stuart Broadley, EIC.
A live Q&A Panel Session on the first day of the Workshop will feature BP, Equinor, Saudi Aramco, Spirit Energy and Total. This session, with the theme of Innovation in Flow Measurement from an End Users Perspective, provides an opportunity to hear from the operators as they address some of the issues facing industry at a critical time, such as reducing CAPEX and optimising OPEX; introduction and rollout of digital solutions; measurement of CO2 and enabling CCUS.
There will be opportunities for companies to showcase their products and services in a virtual exhibitors’ area with live face to face chat options. There will also be greater exposure for exhibitors as the platform stays open for 30 days after the event, extending the opportunity to interact with customers and showcase their products.
Dr. Bruno Pinguet, Workshop Technical Committee Chair, said: “Innovation drives growth and it is vitally important for industry to stay ahead of developments in technology, regulation and practice to deliver competitive advantage. The North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop continues to meet these challenges head-on and the virtual format will enable an even wider global audience to participate.”
Delegates from 30 countries would normally attend the conference, so to accommodate different time zones this year’s virtual event will be extended across four days. The interactive experience will retain the core values of previous workshops - a highly technical focus with delegates engaging directly with leading flow measurement experts to promote knowledge transfer. This new format of the event means that anyone can join the event safely from anywhere in the world and without the added burden of travel time and costs.
