BVAA UKCA & IOGP Online Events
UKCA & IOGP Online Events
We’ve really struck a rich vein of interest with members with nearly 100 sign-ups for two free events we are running on technical and legislative matters.
IOGP
The first session on 3rd June is an IOGP JIP33 technical webinar (10~11.30am) featuring David Harris, Specification Manager at the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP).
The IOGP initiated Joint Industry Programme 33 in 2016 – with support from the World Economic Forum capital project complexity initiative – in response to industry-wide overruns on cost and schedule of more than 40%.
Over 40 specifications have been published to date, 16 or more of which impact on the valves industry. These ‘overlays’ to existing standards are now being adopted and implemented by the operators on major projects, where benefits are already being claimed.
They are however somewhat controversial with members due to the perceived cost and complexity of compliance. If you want to know what all the fuss is about, sign up now.
UKCA Marking
Our online event for members on 7th June (11~noon) will be led by BVAA Technical Consultant Peter Dix.
We’ve had a flurry of enquiries on UKCA Marking, and also the ‘Authorised Representative’ and related issues from the new Market Surveillance Directive.
These really could add cost and complexity to compliance, and this will be our only chance to question and challenge those in authority.
Participating will be Terry Boniface from the Advanced Manufacturing & Services division of BEIS, and representatives from the Markings Team and OPSS – the Office of Product Safety & Standards.
There will also be a session on Market Surveillance & Compliance of Products Directive with BEIS’s Head of Business Engagement, Michael Kearney, and his colleagues, attending.
