About Paul Reeve

Paul Reeve is a Chartered Engineer and a registered functional safety engineer (with the Institute of Measurement & Control). He has over 20 years’ experience of delivering training, consultancy and independent assessments in the field of “functional safety” and SILs for clients around the world. Paul believes that functional safety is something we should all be aware of as there is so much reliance these days on the integrity of our automated systems.

Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) Training Course

Paul is the BVAA’s trainer for the Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) Training Course. The course covers how high levels of risk in plant and machinery can be managed using automated safety instrumented controls that have been designed with the appropriate level of safety integrity (SIL). This means there are defined responsibilities for all involved (end-users, system builders and product suppliers).

By attending this course, you will be in no doubt what analyses, verification, and quality measures you will have to do, and what documentation you will need to provide for all the other organisations in the supply and use chain (plus any relevant auditors and regulators).

The BVAA SILs Training is a one-day course held at the BVAA Banbury HQ, and as it is a very complex subject, delegates are supported with manuals based on the lecture slides, along with supplementary information to reinforce their learning. Paul allows ample opportunity for question-and-answer sessions, ensuring delegates are confident with what they have learnt.

Why choose BVAA Training?

The BVAA SILs course is quite unique – it is specifically for valve/actuator manufacturers, so the information is as relevant and focussed as possible for the attendees.

We asked Paul what he enjoys most about training?

Paul explains, “Demystifying a complex subject such as SILs and helping people to appreciate and apply the requirements in a practical and straightforward way is very rewarding. The interactive discussions we often have always help to ground the theory and keep things as applied as possible.”

Dates for next Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) Training Courses:

  • 27 April 2023
