Hot Spot-IOGP JIP33 S-707 Actuators for On-Off Valves Review and Supplier Questionnaire Launched
What is it?
IOGP JIP 33 have launched a review of their specification S-707 Actuators for On-off Valves which currently includes supplementary requirements to ISO 12490. The revised S-707 specification will change to base its requirements on a new addendum to API 6DX which is currently being developed jointly by API and ISO with an API lead.
The review process has been launched in two forms-
- User Feedback review of the current ISO 12490 based specification which can be found here S-707 Actuators for On-off Valves (ISO). This is intended to capture any comments on the requirements of the existing specification. It requires access to the IOGP JAMA system to submit comments, instructions on using JAMA can be found on the JIP33 Specification Development page.
- Supplier Questionnaire to be completed by suppliers with experience of the current specification, this does not need JAMA access and will take around 20-30 mins to complete by following Supplier Questionnaire for Actuators for on-off Valves (ISO) [Maintenance]. The questionnaire is quite broad, and so will probably require some internal research before completing. Questions include the number of enquiries received, further standardisation opportunities, what you consider to be essential information requirements, the amount of inspection/intervention as well as a few specific technical questions.
BVAA members who are on/off valve actuator suppliers are invited to contribute directly to IOGP JIP33 and the above processes which close on 20th January 2023.
If required, the BVAA will organise an Actuator Group meeting to agree any collective comments on the User Feedback Review portion. Please contact the BVAA secretariat by 22nd December 2022 if you have any comments which you think should be considered and raised by the association.
Why is it Important?
This specification is important because it includes requirements for actuators for on on/off valves that will be adopted by 12 of the major operators in the oil and gas industry. The current basis of the specification is set to change from ISO 12490 to API 6DX which may significantly affect your current products or processes. This review provides an opportunity to influence these requirements.
