This year, we welcome Jason Irwin from Curtiss Wright, who will be running our Safety Valves training, and brings with him many years of experience.

Jason has worked for major manufacturers in the Safety Relief Valve Industry for over 30 years, covering various different roles. He started his career in technical sales, specialising in the project business for North Sea he developed a detailed understanding of the codes, standards, applications and metallurgy specific to safety valve installations.

His career has taken him all over the world, including secondments in USA, The Netherlands and France undertaking project, technical internal & external sales roles.  Latterly as regional sales manager for EMEA & Russia, Jason travelled extensively spending, much of his time providing technical assistance & training to end users, EPC contractors, sales representatives and valve maintenance professionals.

Currently working as Sales & Operations Director in UK, Jason now oversees sales & operations, including the training arm of a major PSV manufacturer. 

Jason says, “This October, I’m really looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with delegates on the BVAA’s acclaimed Safety Valves Course.”

Course Brief

This 1-day course is designed as a comprehensive introduction to safety valves. This course explains why there is a need for safety valves and the associated regulatory requirements. How safety valves function and how to size and select the correct valve for given duties and specifications. The course employs lectures, demonstrations and problem solving sessions.

Course Objectives

  • Learn the main types and operating characteristics of safety valves
  • Be able to select and specify the correct safety valve for a given application 
  • Be aware of legislation covering pressure equipment and safety valves - Receive a full course manual as a permanent record

Who Should Attend

This training course is designed for engineers who use/select and for Technicians who install/service these safety devices. Managers with responsibility for plant and equipment would find an appreciation of the subject and the issues involved useful.
