Flowserve Corporation, a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, recently announced the availability of new valve coating technologies designed to increase cycle life and improve performance, provided by fellow BVAA member Hardide Coatings Ltd.

Now standard for the Flowserve McCANNA McCannaseal top-entry wedge-seated ball valve, the Tungsten carbide and thermal-spray coatings offer cost savings through reduced maintenance and increased resistance to abrasive, high-temperature and severe-service applications. “Flowserve believes this product will help increase the overall life cycle of our products, while decreasing maintenance costs,” said Brian Hood, Product Manager, Flowserve Flow Control Division. “These new coatings will allow our customers in the oil and gas, mining and chemical industries to save money through increased service life and reliability.”

The coatings are applied using various methods including Chemical Vapor Deposition process (CVD) and thermal spray. In laboratory testing, Flowserve found that the coating technologies increased cycle life by approximately 150 percent under severe operating conditions.

The Flowserve McCannseal valve is known for consistent, reliable operation in some of the world’s most volatile applications. The valve’s top-entry design allows it to be serviced in-line, reducing maintenance and repair costs.
