YPS Valves Ltd, whose headquarters are in Leeds, West Yorkshire, has appointed Nick Day to its inhouse technical design department.

Nick, a qualified mechanical design engineer, is an important addition to the experienced team responsible for the design and manufacture of new products.

Nick said: ‘I am delighted to be joining such a well respected business with a strong reputation for design and innovation and look forward to helping bring new products to market.’

YPS ex-stock & modification service department take on more staff

YPS has also added two new members of staff to its ex-stock and modification service department to meet continuing demand.

In addition to its strong design and manufacturing capabilities, YPS can take ‘stock’ valves and engineer fast track modifications to the specific requirements of the end user.

The ability to provide a ‘one stop shop’ stock, modification and full in house test service enables YPS to offer a bespoke solution in weeks, rather than months. The service is favoured by companies during plant shutdowns, or for urgent breakdown work. It also appeals to the maintenance requirements of all the industries served by YPS.

The standard YPS modification services include:
• Packing, gasket and bolting changes
• Variable trim materials
• Cryogenic and bellows sealed conversions
• Operational changes, i.e. gearboxes and actuation
• By-pass and purge connections

All valves modified by YPS are subject to stringent quality systems, and a full range of testing is provided with a YPS certification package. Modified valves are also marked CE where necessary, to comply with European Pressure Equipment Directive.

YPS looks to clean up with new facility

YPS Valves has installed a new ultrasonic cleaning facility at its headquarters in Leeds, to add to its current capability.

The giant tank can degrease valves up to a 16" 900 globe valve, making them suitable for oxygen service and other applications.

Rachel Wormald, Managing Director, said: ‘The cleaning system enhances our capability of supplying valves to the market which are free of contamination.

‘The investment in this and other types of specialist equipment is a statement of our commitment to be at the forefront of the valve manufacturing and supply industry.’
