Despite the continuing uncertainty in the global economy, specialist Nickel Alloy stockist Maher are continuing to invest in stock material to supply our customers at home and abroad. The backbone of our stock is our extensive range of Alloy 718.

Alloy 718 is a high strength, corrosion resistant nickel chromium alloy, initially developed for the aerospace industry and still considered the material of choice for most aircraft engine components. Its excellent strength and corrosion resistance have been recognised by the oil industry and it is now widely used in this field.

Typical applications in the oil industry are gate valves, choke stems, fasteners, tubing hangers and fire safe valves. In the aerospace and power generation industries this grade is also used for gas turbines, aircraft engines, fasteners, and other high strength applications.

Our stock range covers popular sizes, starting at small fastener & stem diameters through to larger valve body & tubing hanger sizes, with fully traceable mill certification to BS EN10204/3.1 (upgradable to BS EN10204/3.2 on request). Primarily stocked in machined round bar, Maher also stocks a range of flat bar sizes and has considerable experience converting this material to rings, blocks, ground bar and other shapes through our own machine shop & network of approved subcontractors.

Maher’s 718 material is stocked in three heat treatment conditions: -

  • Solution annealed and aged in accordance with API 6ACRA & NACE MR0175
    • Solution annealed in accordance with AMS 5662 & ASTM B637
    • Solution annealed and aged in accordance with AMS 5663 & ASTM B637

We have onsite PCN and SNT Level II Inspectors if additional ultrasonic testing is required to meet customer requirements.
