There are only three months left before IVS - Industrial Valve Summit, the international fair dedicated to industrial valves and flow control technologies. The fourth edition will take place on May 26-27, 2022 in Bergamo, Italy. A long-awaited event after the one-year postponement due to the Covid-19 emergency, and for which the interest of international companies and exhibitors is constantly growing.

As we approach the summit, the markets keep recording the rush of crude oil. Demand has started growing again and large producers have ushered in a new round of investments. A proven mechanism for the Oil & Gas sector, set for a future in which global demand is destined to increase. In this market phase, the increase in production and the injection of new capital do not grow proportionally to the demand. The timid relaunch on fossil projects is partly due to the development of alternative energy sources.

The issue of sustainability plays a central role in the investment strategies of Oil & Gas companies. Not only in terms of the environment, but also in terms of social and management aspects. In fact, the growth of the supply chain of industrial valves will go through the enhancement of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria, which have become a compass with which the big players measure and direct investments in the sector. The sustainability report of the companies in the supply chain becomes a crucial element for a company to be included in the vendor lists of contractors.

The energy transition has been receiving great attention by the industry: the opportunities for the entire supply chain are concrete. Starting with the challenges posed by hydrogen, which requires new infrastructures for the transport of the resource. The topic is one of the hottest within the sustainability scenario, for which IVS - Industrial Valve Summit will play a leading role. The fair combines an exhibition vocation with a scientific soul, which is expressed through the series of conferences that will be held during the Summit. Not only does IVS enable the major players in the global supply chain to come together, providing an opportunity to network and do business, but it also represents a showcase in which to discuss the changes taking place within the sector and analyze market trends.

The conferences will discuss the scenarios and new applications of the latest innovations. Starting from Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS) technologies. Just think of two very topical projects, such as the Northern Lights plant, which will be realized by Equinor in Norway, and the maxi-project led by Eni, which will create one of the largest CO₂ storage centres in the world in the Adriatic Sea. These infrastructures are of strategic value for the industrial valve supply chain: for the Norwegian plant, for example, a consignment of tubular products totalling 105 kilometres of pipelines was commissioned.
