Hydrostatic Testing
New BVAA Training Course
NEW Hydrostatic Testing - 1-Day Course
The BVAA has recently delivered its first Hydrostatic Testing Course for a major valve manufacturer in West Yorkshire, and is now offering it out to the wider industry.
Kentintrol are leading the way in delivering this type of training to their workforce, and the BVAA would encourage other organisations to follow their example in protecting their employees.
BVAA Director Rob Bartlett writes, ‘Hydrostatic testing, done badly, has the potential to kill. Regrettably this isn’t scaremongering but perfectly true, and most of us who have been in industry long enough can cite examples. The basic function involves the application of stored energy into an assembly, with the aim of verifying its integrity and/or functionality. If the assembly - or the associated test equipment - fails under test, the outcome can be potentially fatal for anyone in the wrong place at the wrong time.’
He continues, ‘Fortunately BVAA’s one-day course takes delegates through what hydrostatic testing is, covers what can go wrong, instructs good testing practice and safe systems of working, and covers the correct selection and maintenance of pressure equipment. There is a test at the end to confirm understanding.’
The new course is aimed at valve suppliers, manufacturers and service workshops, and intended for supervisors and technicians conducting pressure testing.
