Comment by BVAA CEO Rob Bartlett
‘Build it and they will come’?
As can be seen from the photograph, clearly the resident birds at Bartlett Towers haven’t quite grasped the concept of this oft-misquoted phrase. Or have they?
On the one hand, they’ve completely ignored the perfectly good, well-intended offer. On the other hand, they’ve availed themselves of something perfectly useful, but not precisely in the way it was intended.
What is certain though, is that without having ‘built’ the box in the first place, the service we’ve rendered wouldn’t have been possible, and the birds would not have come.
Now that they have come, they’re making good use of it.
There are many parallels with trade association services I feel. BVAA has an incredibly diverse membership in terms of companies that join our happy band. In amongst that, we support a wide range of job functions within those companies. Consequently, their needs are incredibly different, and what’s of interest to each and every one is often unique.
Inevitably, quite how a member uses their membership isn’t always as you might expect, and often surprises! The important thing is that we have a brilliant platform on which they can build.
