Hot Spot IOGP JIP33 S-730 Flanged Steel Pressure-relief Valves Specification 1.1 Launched for Review
What is it?
Following a previous enquiry phase requesting supplier feedback, IOGP JIP33 have now issued a revised draft of specification S-730 API 526 Flanged steel pressure-relief valves for public comment with a closing date of 12-11-2024.
This comprehensive specification, covering flanged pressure-relief valves, takes the form of a set of requirements that are supplementary to API 526. The specification takes the form of supplementary requirements to API 526 and covers basic definitions, design requirements, materials, inspection and testing, identification, preparation for shipment and includes material selection tables.
The version 1.1 specification and accompanying documents have been revised significantly from the original issue published in March 2021 and can be downloaded by following the link S-730 Flanged Steel Pressure-relief Valves (API) launched for public review - JIP33 (iogp-jip33.org).
The public comment stage is open to anyone for input via the IOGP website but requires registration on the organisation’s Jama system, instructions on how to do this can be found by following the above link.
Why is it Important?
The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) is the voice of the global upstream industry with 83 members including majors such as BP, Chevron, Equinor, ExxonMobil and Shell. These JIP33 specifications are aimed at industry wide standardisation and cost reduction and have been widely adopted by IOGP members. It is recommended that BVAA members involved with the supply of API 526 flanged pressure-relief valves review the new specification and comment on the Jama site to ensure that these revised specifications are effective at meeting the needs of the valve manufacturers as well as the end users.
