Hot Spot Proposed revision of ISO 13628-4:2010 Subsea wellhead and tree equipment

What is it?

The BVAA has been informed that there is a proposal to revise ISO 13628-4:2010 Subsea wellhead and tree equipment and members may be interested in participating in the working group to be formed to complete the task.

The current edition of ISO 13628-2:2010 includes requirements for valves, valve blocks, valve actuators, chokes and choke actuators on subsea tree equipment.

If you are interested in participating in this work, should it be approved by ISO, then please let the BVAA secretariat know of your potential interest by 20-9-24 and we will facilitate your membership of the ISO/TC 67 working group when formed. It is likely that the majority of meetings will be held as hybrid or online meetings minimising the need to travel in order to participate.

Why is it Important?

ISO 13628-4:2010 mirrors many of the requirements of API 17D edition 2 when it was published however, the 3rd edition of API 17D was published in 2021 and Addendum 2 of this specification is currently undergoing final ballot with API. The proposal to revise ISO 13628-4:2010 would allow the standard to be revised and potentially re-align with the latest API 17D requirements.

Participation in the ISO/TC 67 working group responsible for the proposed revision would allow BVAA members to influence the revision of ISO 13628-4, potentially allowing valve and actuator OEMs to supply consistent products into both ISO and API subsea markets with consequent benefits in cost and performance.
