Howco Is Ready: Materials for Tomorrow’s Energy
Our world energy mix is changing. Energy security, climate change, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve Net Zero and the requirement of affordable, clean energy solutions means major shifts are underway today from governments, companies and investors. These are driving a rise in clean energy technologies that will change the energy landscape for future generations.
As a leading global distributor and processor of Nickel Alloys, Low Alloy, Stainless Steel and Duplexes to the energy sector, Howco has continually adapted and evolved over a 40 year history to the ever-changing needs of customers, and the role Howco is playing in today’s Energy Transition is no exception.
From subsea to surface applications, where high pressure, high temperature, corrosive and erosive conditions reign, materials supplied by Howco can be found. The Energy Transition Team at Howco is taking their understanding of materials and their properties combined with decades of experience of the demanding sectors they serve to ensure that they are ready for more energy transition requests from customers.
Business Development Manager Lorna Hurley says: “We are extremely proud to see materials sourced and processed at Howco at the forefront of the Energy Transition movement. We’re already supplying into Geothermal applications for downhole drilling and surface wellhead equipment as well as working with partners for CCS (Carbon Capture & Storage). This includes not only subsea storage but also processing of CO2 from well construction to completions equipment. We are also excited to see Howco supporting the electrification of our traditional core upstream business, as key oilfield service companies develop and design products to run on electric control systems instead of hydraulic power distribution or hydrocarbon fuels.”
The Howco Group has invested in manufacturing and processing facilities on a global scale for many years, and confidently provides the entire spectrum of High Performance Alloys from Low Alloy material and Stainless Steel through to Duplexes and Nickel Alloys. The company has the capability to supply ingot, billet, forged and rolled bar and forged flat bar, and their in-house processing provides the flexibility to offer a full range of semi-finished and full turnkey components.
Lorna also states: “We’re very pleased to be leading the way as a key materials partner for New Energy. With our global inventory, which is strategically positioned across 10 locations in 6 countries and 4 continents, we ensure we are located where our customers need us to be.”
Howco remains very proud of its past and is excited to embrace change and lead the way as the Energy Industry moves forward.
