The Directors at The Howco Group are proud to announce that they have acquired Cheshire Seals and Components. The move comes as part of Howco’s wider mission to expand its Scientific arm lead by Business Development Manager Phil Bocking who has been with the company for more than 15 years.

Howco’s Director of Manufacturing - Europe, Michael Smith commented, “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our plans to strengthen and grow our Howco Scientific business. It will enable us to expand our product offerings, enter into new markets and will enhance our capabilities. Cheshire Seals and Components brings a wealth of expertise, innovative technology, and a talented team that shares our commitment to excellence.

By combining the strengths of both organisations, we are poised to deliver even greater value to our customers and partners.”

Based in Warrington, Cheshire Seals and Components was founded in 2008 and specialises in the manufacture of high integrity seals and complex machined components, making it a strategic and obvious partner for The Howco Group.

It offers a range of engineering services supporting customers across a wide range of sectors. Its solutions cover everything from ultra-high pressure subsea seals used in oil and gas exploration equipment, to food safe plastic products which need to be dimensionally accurate and sufficiently durable to withstand high temperatures and steam cleaning processes.

Howco will be able to expand its own solutions by embracing Cheshire Seals and Components’ expansive in-house seal knowledge and manufacturing capability, allowing it to reverse engineer and replicate seals for many applications.

Like its new parent company, Cheshire Seals and Components machines high-accuracy complex components, supplied in a ready-to-use condition with coatings and/or heat treatment already applied. Similarly, it also offers a 3D component printing service – especially useful for early development prototypes of complex geometrics.

This is an area where Howco has made strong advances in recent years with the launch of its own additive manufacturing arm and centre of excellence, equipped with the very latest powder bed fusion technology and high-volume capacity.

Paul Wallace, the Cheshire Seals and Components Director of Engineering states, “We are extremely pleased to have become part of such a large group with a history spanning more than four decades and a world class reputation. We’re feeling very positive about future projects.”

Michael Smith added, “We’re very much looking forward to the many new opportunities this acquisition will bring and to building a stronger, more innovative future, together.”
