Glenfield Invicta: AirCare Service
Air valves are the undersung and frequently undervalued heroes of water and waste water networks. By regulating air flow and preventing the potentially catastrophic formation of vacuums, air valves play a critical role in optimising system performance and asset life.
In order to ensure air valves continue to function as intended at the time of installation, planned servicing, maintenance and, in extremis, replacement programmes are critical.
Across the myriad of other high-profile responsibilities water companies have to fulfil, it is easy to overlook air valve servicing and maintenance. Air valves are often located in remote high points in the network, to eliminate the risk of air pockets or vacuums: out of sight is out of mind. Alternatively, air valves can be installed to protect network assets that cause water flow to stop or change direction suddenly, such as pumps or certain valves. In such configurations, air valves can be perceived as the bridesmaid rather than the bride.
AirCare is a new nationwide service developed by Glenfield Invicta to deliver the servicing and maintenance of air valves on water and wastewater networks. AirCare complements the ongoing network maintenance activities of water company engineering and operations teams.
A core member of the AVK Group of Companies, Glenfield Invicta has over one hundred years’ experience of installing, servicing and refurbishing air valves; both AVK air valve ranges, and those of other manufacturers.
Effective air valve servicing is based on two key criteria: experienced and expert service engineers, and a comprehensive stock of essential air valve components such as floats, guides and seals. Glenfield Invicta’s unrivalled inventory of spares ensures both routine maintenance and urgent emergency repairs can be undertaken quickly and effectively.
Glenfield Invicta’s AirCare service engineers are able to diagnose issues on site following condition assessment protocols, undertake repairs, and restore air valves to their optimal working condition. AirCare servicing can include, for example, the cleaning and descaling of internal chambers, replacement of worn components, and valve reassembly and lubrication.
Where work cannot be completed on site, AirCare can refurbish air valves in Glenfield Invicta’s engineering workshops, including assessing components for fatigue and deformation. Anti-corrosion coatings can be applied and valves performance tested at design pressures on AirCare’s testing rigs.
The AirCare team also installs and configures the AVK range of smart air valves, which communicate data on valve and network performance in almost real-time.
