SAMSON Group’s MainChange: A Bold Commitment to European Manufacturing
In a major move reinforcing its dedication to European industry, SAMSON Group is investing €400 million in the MainChange project—its new state-of-the-art factory and headquarters in Offenbach am Main, Germany. Amid declining investments in European manufacturing, this stands out as a significant privately funded initiative, highlighting SAMSON’s long-term commitment to the process industry.
Launched in March 2021, the project covers 143,000 m² within the Offenbach Innovation Campus. Designed for efficiency and sustainability, the facility will cut energy consumption from 32 GWh to 22 GWh, with over 50% of energy coming from solar power and organic energy storage. Optimized logistics will reduce on-site valve transport distances from 11 km to just 1 km, enhancing production efficiency. The new plant, with a production hall the size of four soccer fields, will manufacture over 250,000 digital positioners annually.
Construction is happening in two phases. The first, which began in June 2023, focuses on building an electronics manufacturing unit and essential infrastructure. The second phase includes a fully automated high-bay warehouse, advanced workshops, a mobility center, and the SAMSON Forum for office spaces. The relocation from Frankfurt to Offenbach is set for completion by late 2026.
The project has drawn attention at the highest level. On January 20, 2025, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the site, commending SAMSON’s investment as a critical step in securing Germany’s industrial future. CEO Dr. Andreas Widl emphasized the company’s strong commitment to Germany as an industrial hub, advocating for faster export licensing and reduced bureaucracy to boost global competitiveness for German SMEs.
Sustainability is a core focus. Project manager Sven Donner outlined the company’s vision for carbon-neutral production by 2035, leveraging modern technology and renewable energy sources. The MainChange initiative positions SAMSON as a leader in eco-friendly manufacturing and a model for sustainable growth.
At a time when European manufacturing faces uncertainty, SAMSON’s investment is a bold statement of confidence in the region’s industrial future. This project not only secures jobs but also showcases how innovation and sustainability can drive the next chapter of European industry.
